Tommy Murphy is an award-winning playwright with recent productions in New York, San Francisco, Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney. He is a
graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (Director's Course) and a former writer in residence at Griffin Theatre Company. This year, his adaptation of 'Holding The Man' won the NSW Premier's Award, an AWGIE, and the Phillip Parsons Award for Best Play after its sell-out seasons at The Stables, Sydney Opera House and Belvoir Street. In 2006, he was the youngest recipient of the NSW Premier's award with 'Strangers in Between'. Both plays are published by Currency Press and will soon embark on national tours. He has written eight plays and taught scriptwriting in Hong Kong, Papua New Guinea and across Australia. His new play 'Saturn's Return' premieres at the Sydney Theatre Company in August. |
