| THE MYTH |

So we sort of loosely based this play around the idea of the 'Persephone
Myth'.
We called a character Persephone. Then we wrote a play (except the
end, and some meaty bits in the middle which remain MIA).
So the other day
in rehearsal, we decided to do a pee-pee sized refresher course on the
Persephone Myth. Now the thing I remember most distinctly about the
Persephone myth is that it is supposed to be the most fundamental myth -
that somehow other myths and stories can usually be traced back to it. Or
something like that.
And as we broke it down into its scaffold we realised
that through some feeble stumbling through the collective unconscious, the
skeleton of our play mirrors the skeleton of the myth. Which was great news,
because (as one might expect, and unlike our precious malnourished runtling
script) the myth has and end.
Happy days, there is some hope! We also had
grand plans to turn the myth into a movement piece, which were thwarted by
no rehearsal space and torrential rain.
