“Let x = x” - Laurie Anderson
Welcome,
You should know, that though this play is called Hammerhead (is
dead), in actual fact, right now, Hammerhead (is dying).
Sad. I know.
And you’ve rushed to his side,
you’ve taken his hand,
your kneecaps in his blood,
and from your POV things don’t look good for our plucky hero.
Who never really got to be a hero.
And behind his darting eyes, a quest begins.
At times like these, when sadness threatens to drag you down, down and under,
it is important to remember that being dragged down and under is
better than oblivion.
Because right now he’d give anything to be where you are, watching
a play. So hold him down, would you? As the void comes swinging
through the trees to rip his life out, out and away. Then after that,
maybe dinner? Or a drink? Darlo bar? Or straight to bed, work early
in the morning?
This play is his last breath, his halo, what he brought back, what he
would have been. |
